Planning a career path is not easy. Besides personal interests, several other factors may influence teenagers’ career choices.
Parents’ expectations often have a strong impact on their children’s decisions. For example, parents working in business may want their children to study commerce or economics. Sometimes, conflicts occur because teenagers do not want to follow the career path that their parents prefer.
Peer influence is another important factor. Teenagers are impressionable, so they may become interested in careers because many of their friends like them. However, students may not succeed in those careers if they are not truly passionate about them.
In addition, career advice on the Internet can affect students’ decisions, although not all online information is reliable. Finally, cost is also important when students plan their future careers.
Since career planning plays an essential role in working life, students should receive proper guidance from trustworthy sources.
